One of the silly things about Drupal is that it caches unique url that results in a 404 as a unique entry in the cache. This is problematic because it basically ends up rebuilding the same 404 page over again. Why not just cache the 404 page once and serve it up each time as soon as we know we will get a 404? That way we don not have to keep rebuilding the page!
